I must admit, I’ve always been super lazy when it comes to beauty stuff. I used to get really excited about a certain product, buy it and forget to use it. So over the years, I’ve learned to keep it simple. After all, simplicity is the essence of beauty (see: mood board).
I’ve been using random organic face wash, apple cider vinegar as toner, and a honey cinnamon concoction on blemishes for a couple years now (see what I mean…lazy), so I figured it was time to switch up my skincare regime. Currently, I’m testing out Clinique’s line and I’m loving it. I use the Liquid Facial Soap, Clarifying Lotion and Turnaround Daytime Moisturizer almost everyday. When I’m in a fun mood and feel like going the extra mile, I’ll do the Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask. Then fresh out of the shower, I’ll pat on a little bit of the Revitalizing Treatment Oil. I traveled a lot this past month so my skin hasn’t been looking too glow-y and happy, but these products are slowly but surely bringing my face back to life.

What’s your current skincare routine?

I think the first time i saw the apple cider vinegar as a toner suggestion was on your blog a few years ago… i’ve been using it ever since and i love it!

I use the Clinique foaming acne wash every day and I get so many comments about how great my skin is. I love their products, I have sensitive skin, but have no problem with Clinique.

That 7 day scrub is the best, I don’t use it anymore but I should get back into it. Lately I’ve been using Shesido (sp) face wash, Rose Petel Witch Hazel as my Toner and Burts Bees Intentisive Hydration facial cream. I’m going to switch up as the fal comes though. I still haven’t found a great scrub for my weekly routine.

    Love Clinique!!

I’ve ditched oils for serums lately, but I really miss them and am back using a simple rose hip oil, which is a no fail product. I love a good moisturiser and I’ve been really into hydrating and toning mists as well.

To be honest, the best beauty is simple beauty; that way you can figure out exactly what your skin needs and loves. :)

    Nice :)

I use the Clinique 3 step system without the toner. Just the wash and lotion. It’s crazy how even when I go a day or 2 without using the wash, the lotion which I can’t live without keeps my skin balanced.

The key is keeping the beauty regime simple and natural!

I am surprised and confused that you would switch from healthy natural to chemical filled products…? I have the beauty dictionary in my bag when I shop and look up ingredients before buying. The book ‘Beauty to Die For’ has never left my thoughts.

because its a sponsored post honey. I highly doubt she’s using them. If you take a look at her other sponsored fragrances blogposts and her personal perfume stash post (not sponsored), you can tell she only did it for the money. Same to the clinique crap. Don’t believe everything you see on the internet dear.

LOL! Yeah…. after commenting I remembered that bloggers advertise products for companies which they themselves don’t necessarily CONSISTENTLY use or use at all…. ah well! Bloggers gotta eat too!!!

true, bloggers gotta eat too… but they gotta stay true to themself. why promote something when you dont stand by a product? It makes you look desperate and money hungry… But that’s my personal opinion.

I believe it’s always better to use few products, also organic products are great, you don’t have to worry of a negative effect. Great post! Very informative :-)

To be honest Karla, I think if your “lazy” approach to beauty has been working for you, which it seems to have been….. then it may be best to stick to that…. you may experience break outs now that you’ve moved to more chemical based beauty products… I don’t really think there’s such a thing as a lazy approach to beauty….. one’s approach is either effective or ineffective….

Mine is apple cider vinegar as a cleanser/toner (it removes ALL dirt and oil) I sometimes rinse a bit off then moisturize with cold pressed grapeseed oil or jojoba oil to rebalance my skin’s oil content. I alternate between ACV, and a black soap…. just so my skin doesn’t get used to one or the other.

    • Cherri-lee Rhode

I don’t use a toner for my skin, but I will definitely try apple cider vinegar. Thanks for the tip :)

      • Melissann

Make sure to dilute it with water. I don’t dilute mine because my skin is used to it and I have oily/combination skin. Make VERY sure not to do more than your skin needs and can tolerate… otherwise you may irritate it. Happy cleaning!

Apple cider vinegar is definitely a must. I also take a teaspoon of it every morning.
